Executive Board

Our Executive Board is working hard this year to plan fun events to raise money for our parent organization, HEROs. We hope that you will support us by joining committees! If you would like to become a member of our team, please participate in our events throughout the semester to qualify yourself for a position.

 

President:  Derek Bastien
Fourth-Year Economics Major with Finance Certificate

Derek was first interested in GT HEROs because of his interest in social entrepreneurial work and creating social value in the community. He was on the 2010 Executive Board as Fundraising Chair, coordinating many new events such as the Student Center Bake Sales/Raffles, Late Night Pizzas, and Engineering HEROs. He was the Outreach Chair for Spring 2011 and recently assumed the role of President beginning Fall of 2011. His goal for the academic year 2011-2012 is to dramatically increase organization presence on campus and, as well as interaction with the HEROs children, so as to increase awareness, membership, and fundraising profits.

 

Vice President of Finance: Erin Mckeon

Erin Mckeon is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, where she is the T-shirt chair. Her 2011 goals for GT HEROs are to raise awareness and membership for the organization on campus by showing how much of an impact HEROs has on children’s lives.

Leonid is excited to be with GT HEROs. Through GT HEROs, he is looking forward to improving the quality of life of kids affected by HIV/AIDS in Georgia and raising awareness of GT HEROs on campus. Outside of GT HEROs, Leonid is involved with AMSA and the photography club.

 

 

 

 

Fundraising Director: Kim Laughlin
Third-Year Business Administration Major with Concentration in Information Technology

Kim is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and she is a Project Coordinator for TEAM Buzz. She enjoys making a difference in the community by serving children whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS. Through GT HEROs, Kim hopes to create unique and exciting fundraising events that raise awareness for students and faculty.

 

 

 

 

 

Campus-Fundraising: Aimey Chun
Biology Major with Pre-Med Track

Aimey was first drawn to GT HEROs due to her interest in AIDS she’s had since junior high.  As a member, she hopes to increase HIV/AIDS awareness throughout the Tech campus while also obtaining a deeper understanding of it herself. Outside of GT HEROs, Aimey’s also involved with Ripple Effect, GT Circle K, TOMS Campus Club, and tutors kids via MOVE. She enjoys eating, watching Friends, and sleeping. WOW, she sounds super lazy. Aimey loves working with kids and hopes to one day develop HIV/AIDS treatment centers in developing countries.

Kelsey is a sister of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and an intern at Korn/Ferry International.  She is involved with GT HEROs because she loves kids and wanted to help improve their quality of life through the organization.  She has had an amazing experience so far and is excited to see what more is to come!

Second-Year Computer Engineering Major with Computer Science Minor

Paul is a brother of  the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He is also the Technical Advisor for Tech Beautification Day. As a volunteer firefighter, he enjoys helping people in need. Paul looks forward to implementing his knowledge of leadership and teamwork with the rest of the GT HEROs team.
